Another day, another workout. Today I did Jazzercise On Demand Sculpt 22 with Adrienne. It’s only 30 minutes, so even if you’re an exercise hater like me, it’s still doable.
Adrienne somehow makes it fun. And just when the “fun” turns brutal, the 30 minutes is up.
And now you have bragging rights to another 30 minutes of working out while the rest of the world is binge-watching Outlander.
The challenge in anything worthwhile is that it doesn’t happen overnight. Successful people spend hours, days – even years – in unseen, behind the scenes drudgery.
We watch Olympians in awe, marveling at their “natural talent.” We grit our teeth in envy of wealthy business owners, who build companies from the ground up that employ hundreds of people.
But nobody sees the blood, sweat and tears on the road to those gold medal ceremonies and corner offices.
It doesn’t happen in a day.
Success is the cumulation of small decisions and tiny actions, stacked together and practiced repeatedly.
Success is the cumulation of small decisions and tiny actions, stacked together and practiced repeatedly.
And at the end of the day, it’s not really about the gold medal or the corner office anyway, is it? After all, those are rewards – but they’re just things. They’re symbols of the journey.
The real success isn’t about the goal we’ve set before ourselves. It’s about the person we become – the character we develop – in showing up every day to make that goal happen.
The last thing I wanted to do this dark, icy winter morning was workout. But I did it anyway.
Sometimes the hardest action is to just get up from the chair and press PLAY.
